Highly Active Catalyst for Hydrogen Production

Nickel telluride (NiTe), as a chalcogenide compound, has excellent catalytic oxidation performance in electrolytic water. However, its weak hydrogen adsorption capacity limits its wide application in the field of hydrogen production from electrolytic water. In order to solve this problem, recently, Professor Zhao Chuan of the University of New South Wales, Australia, has developed a simple gas-phase phosphine (PH3) electrode preparation strategy, which can effectively convert inactive NiTe into highly active Ni2P / NiTe2 catalyst with unique heterostructure.
